Name: Jove Age: 19 Social Class: Knight Birthday: Sept. 3rd Blood Type: AB Family: Jove has very little family in which he is in contact with; in fact, the man isn't even certain of much of his immediate family still lives, as both his parents were very old by the time they had their last child, and all of his brothers and sisters have scattered to the four winds. Ahern, his oldest bother, has been his only connection with the family and due to Ahern (a knight like Jove) being rarely in his brother's presence it has been some time since the young man has heard on the doings of his family. Outside of his mess of brothers and sisters, a good eight or nine of them, Jove has little to hold onto in the form of friends and family: He's a social person, meeting, greeting, and going on with his life all in one breath. Knighthood hasn't allowed him to keep many companions over the years. Preferred Element: Water or Wind There were nine children, living with two parents, in one house that was connected to the family's blacksmithing shop. All of the sons, five of them excluding Jove, were taught how to use fire, hammer, and anvil to create the different pieces people came to request. It was always a busy shop, constantly expanding just a little more each year. The young ladies would scurry about the house learning to clean, cook, and keep books. When one of the children came of age they would go out into the world to find work, and eventually many scattered so far and wide that family connections were forgotten about. Jove was the last of the nine children, and one of the last students his father ever taught. He was the baby. The boy learned to cook ,while he was young, through his sisters, who also took the liberty of being his three tutors while he attended public schooling. He learned to love to read, and learned to love to write quickly, his growing imagination helping to fuel stories in his mind. Jove wasn't, however, what his father had wanted. The boy was clumsy with a hammer, and too slow with his work. He had ruined more pieces than the family could afford. When the boy finally grew out of his awkward stage his father refused to have him as a student. Jove was discouraged, but continued to move on with life, enjoying his moments alone and his teachings. The family was growing in power, and in wealth, while Jove continued to grow in popularity. By the time he found himself in amongst the ranks of knight (Jove, himself, isn't exactly sure how the decision was made, but has a habit of blaming drunken bets and nasty revenge for one-night-stands), the man had had more lovers, and more relations than most children his age. He was far from shy, an far from coward, tending to defend his honor and that of the young women who he spent his time entertaining, too. His ability to swing a sword or throw a fist left him the twinkle in many eyes. Jove never fooled when it came to protecting the people, though. Knight was not only a job to the man, nor was it only a chance for courting, or travel, but it was also the title of protector- something Jove found himself more passionate about, and still finds himself more passionate about, than he ever thought possible. With the confirmation of magic, the man only seemed more pleased that he could have some other way of doing his duty (or even showing off some, too). Now, just a small time later, Jove isn't so sure about Everthorne anymore. He wants to make his family proud, but without any family about there is no need. He wants to do his duty, but he feels confident in his abilities. He wants to seem…flashy, he supposes, but his charm allows him to do that just fine. Everthorne presented a problem to Jove that he didn’t expect: he didn’t want to be a mage. Even if it would help his country, Jove wanted no part in mage hood. It took him most of the term to decide to prove and apply himself to his studies, instead of simply dragging his feet. When he finally did choose to become a mage, it was not entirely his own convincing. A young girl named Abbey had the most to do with it. With a promise to take care of her, to have her stay with him no matter if she passed or failed, Jove found himself moving forward for her future, and with the intention of doing good in the world. Now, now that Everthorne has passed him for a Mage, Jove has found his choice to be the best he ever made. He has aided when called for, he has protected when needed, and he has found a social life with more graces than he could have hoped for (and a lovely supply of aged wine fit for a man such as him). With Abbey still a close part of his life, he has put forth a great effort to keep her happy and safe. A good laugh, a nice wine, and some candle light are Jove's scene. Peace, quiet, and calm (though, knowing Jove, one can hardly guess such a thing some times). The man isn't all loud and rambunctious, but he's flirty. He's talkative. He can be a bit noisy when he thinks he can get away with it, and he likes his romance and his lifestyle (including the company he has been known to keep- sex, Jove likes to think, is sex. Flirting is flirting. A fleeting fancy is just that. Romance, though, is different entirely and should not be confused). Long nights alone with his novels and his drink content him. And, though a knight, he's not about to be fast for fighting: even if it would impress. The man likes to think that walking away is some times a better way to catch someone's eye; after all, the bigger man can walk away. Like any Knight should be, Jove is far from puny. Instead, he is all muscle and height (a good 5' 11", last he knew). He likes to keep himself clean-shaven, prim and proper: having grown up with three sisters, the man picked up their finicky traits. Thin, light brown hair sweeps his shoulders, and hazel eyes never falter. Either wearing a confident, not arrogant or prideful, smirk on his face, or greeting people with a soft smile, Jove's a heart breaker if ever there was one.
